Biography

Haddar Macdasi is a Tel Aviv–based artist working primarily with ink on paper through live
figurative sessions. For more than a decade, his practice has developed around repeated
encounters with the human figure in limited timeframes, often between 20 and 30 minutes
His work explores the tension between presence and disappearance construction and erosion. Using black ink as both drawing and painting material, Macdasi builds figures through loose
gestural marks, fragmented anatomy, and shifting areas of resolution. The unfinished space is intentional: parts of the image emerge while others dissolve, allowing the viewer to complete the form psychologically. Rather than pursuing anatomical perfection, the work focuses on
immediacy, vulnerability, and the physical trace of decision-making
The figure becomes less a portrait of a person and more a record of perception, memory, and instability. Macdasi’s recent work has been exhibited in Israel and internationally
including upcoming presentations at MEAM Museum in Barcelona and Fresh Paint 2026
